Secrets of Solo Racing : Expert Tecniques for Autocrossing and Time Trials by Henry A. Watts
This is, bar none, the best book available for
beginning autocrossers. Most of the other books recommended
here were written with road racing in mind and
are best taken with some perspective by the reader who
wants to autocross; this is the only "no experience
required" book listed here. Highly recommended.

Le Mans (1971)
The classic Steve McQueen movie about the ultimate 24 hour French race.
This movie isn't much on dialogue, but the cinemetography is excellent
and really gets through the intensity of the greuling race. Probably
the greatest racing movie ever made. The DVD version isn't available
yet but hopefully soon.

Need for Speed : Porsche Unleashed by Electronic Arts
The most anticipated driving game of the year. This game contains just about
every Porsche ever produced. EA claims that since they were able to focus on one manufacturer's cars they were
able to make the driving experience more realistic than ever.
Although close in realism to Gran Turismo 2, it's not quite there, but having
all these Porsches makes this game a whole lot of fun!
